December 2005

I have many many projects going on right now!
I am concentrating on subject matter pertaining to the healing waters
of the springs here in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
I have not been photographing my works in progress this year, but
will resume the tradition when time allows!
The paintings below have been completed and can be
seen in the galleries on this website

This is my "Practice panel" that I worked on at the seminar in Austria
in August 2005. This is a learning and teaching tool. While doing demonstrations, I finished the lightning and the frog. I taught the new students the process known as the Mische technique while Phil taught the returning artists, who already were familiar with the manner of painting. (See links to Phil Jacobson and his seminars in Europe on the Old Masters' techniques. Home Page, Links page)

This is a painting I was working on at the seminar. It has the yellow ochre paint and the tempera highlights. It has progressed since this stage, with some of the rocks and water done in color. New photo will be up soon.
The Native woman depicts a spirit of a spring in my town. The waters were very important to the Indians for healing. People of the town are now trying to get the water to return to its former purity and power. This painting is a call to the spring's spirit to come back. The ancestors are present in the rock walls behind the springs.

This painting will have the appearance of a Russian lacquer box if all goes well!
It is 32 x 42 inches. The scene is another spring spirit, this time on the grounds of the Crescent Hotel.
